Gratitudes for 2012 and Manifesting Intentions for 2013
Read to the bottom of this blog post for a list of questions to ask yourself about your accomplishments, successes and gratitudes for 2012 and your manifesting intentions for 2013. I will begin by sharing my most powerful and self-affirming accomplishment of this year.
2012 has been an incredibly expansive, eye-opening, and growing year for me and for my online business. I have made great changes, great strides and have widened the scope of my contacts, friendships and networking avenues. I have written hundreds of articles and blogs posts and actually was acknowledged by Ezinearticles.com as 1 of the top 20 showcased authors out of over 400,000 writers. The response to some of my workshops has been underwhelming and overworking so I stopped, re-evaluated and changed direction.
Then – during the month of November, as part of the Nanowrimo.org challenge (National November Writers Month) – I committed to writing a novel (for the first time in my life) of at least 50,000 words. By November 25th, I had written over 100,000 words and had actually created my complete novel: Love in the Blizzard of Life. And, that’s when I discovered that the writing is the easy part. Writing a book and all the details involved is truly a LABOR OF LOVE – whether you self-publish it and handle all the details yourself or if you outsource and pay others to handle each of the different aspects.
I spent the month of December re-reading every chapter at least twice, editing as I went along. And the work was still not done. On Saturday, December 22nd, when the music was blasting Christmas songs about the holiday spirit and everyone everywhere was planning warm and fuzzy family and friend events, on that day I was all alone with my computer for THIRTEEN HOURS STRAIGHT, taking breaks only for meals. And, I am proud to say that on that day I uploaded the interior of my book into CreateSpace.com and finally, after 11 PM that night, I got a message saying “there are no errors found.” But that was just the interior, the manuscript of the book.
On Sunday, December 23rd, I attended my morning Infinite Way meditation group and then proceeded to spend another 6 hours re-creating and uploading my cover images (front, back and spine). On Monday, December 24th, I received a message that there was still an error in the interior and that had to be fixed before the book could be accepted.
Today, December 29th, I received the first actual paper copy of my book – and I must say the cover looks great. However, the color of the print on the back was difficult to read. So today, I made another revision – and – as soon as I had completed that, I realized: “Wait a minute. There is room on the back cover for my logo. So I need to wait until the latest revision is approved. Then I can create another revision, add the logo, and voila. The book is ready to go to Amazon.com. The web page for my novel will soon be online with a link. Please let me know if you would like to pre-order a signed copy.
WHAT ARE YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, SUCCESSES AND GRATITUDES FOR 2012? If you have not already done this simple exercise, please take the time to do so now. I did this a few days ago. It took me a few hours and the end result was amazing. It gave me such clarity about where I have been , what I have done, and what are my next steps. Give yourself the time that you would give to a prospective lead, client or customer. Take the time to reflect upon your past year and anticipate with enthusiasm the future you are in the process of creating NOW.

Great job with your novel during Nanowrimo month. I have been participating for the past 5 years and my goal was 95K words. I usually do beat out 50K before the halfway point of the month because I have been writing fanfiction for years and also working on my own novels and prompts since I was a teen.
I am grateful for a lot of things. I am doing a lot better than the previous year and I have a lot of goals for next year. I’ve also got a lot of great people rooting for me.
May 2013 be even more awesome for you, Dr. Erica!

Nile,
I would love to read one of your novels. I don’t know many people who have been involved with Nanowrimo and I amazed even myself by completing a novel. I have written mostly non-fiction, sometimes a few stories of fictional clients appear in my chapters, but writing an entire imagined story was exhilarating for me.
Here’s to a fabulous 2013.
Warmly,
Erica

Good day to you, Erica –
You have posted such an inspiring list of accomplishments for 2012. Wow!
I love your expanded list of end of year questions and the idea of using the same questions to “act as if” for setting the tone for manifesting in the New Year is brilliant.
Sending you many blessings!

Hi, Erica.
You are a powerhouse of creativity and productivity. What an amazing year you have had.
Congratulations on your novel. Isn’t it amazing what we can do with focus? You are a perfect example of that concept.
I love the concept of gratitudes and manifestations. While I scanned the list here, I look forward to sitting down and really digging deeper. Thank you for sharing this.
May 2013 be the year we all prosper and have the joy we desire.

Charlene,
You are certainly one person who understands the struggle of working in this virtual world and the power of dedication and persistence. Some people think it is easier to just pay someone to do it for you. But I know there is nobody who would have spent the time to complete what I did faster than by doing it myself. Hope to see you soon. Have a wonderful 2013.
Warmly,
Erica

I must first say Congratulations are in order! You have done so much work in 2012 and managed to accomplish that book! It looks wonderful.
I like the idea of Gratitudes and Manifestations. One must be grateful first, before trying to manifest something. A list like this is very helpful.
I like to look back on the past year at this time and do a list of accomplishments. As we go so fast and through the year, writing, teaching, etc. we do need to measure what we have accomplished. When i do this, I get so inspired! Being Grateful of our efforts we have done in the past year, helps us to manifest our list in the new year!
Thank You,
Donna

Donna,
It is so easy to keep looking at our goals and dreams and what we want to do and have with a sense of “not having it yet.” So it really helps to stop looking ahead, for a moment, and to take the time to list and acknowledge what we have already done and accomplished. It is amazing what transpires over an entire year. So much better than checking our progress on any given day or week or even month. Many things take much longer than anticipated. Seeing what we have already done gives us a renewed sense of accomplishment and the energy to focus even more in the upcoming year.
Warmly,
Dr. Erica

Hi Dr. Erica,
wow, what an achievement – writing hundred thousand words and publishing your book and taking on the technical challenges of uploading it etc. etc.!
Well done! Congratulations!
And you continued with the online work as well and provided this great post all while the ‘silly’ season is happening with its extra stresses.
You are and inspiration!
Thank you for the great questions to contemplate the last and the new year!

Hello Dr Erica,
Your accomplishments are a perfect example on how to create what we want when we are driven by passion.
Congratulations I admire your determination and results with your book!
The questions you are asking us to answer or to read and think about are a powerful way to take responsibility about what we want.
Responsibility means being able to respond to what it.
Thank you for sharing with us this great powerful list and how you used it to accomplish what you wanted;)
best wishes for an amazing 2013!

Hi Patricia and Happy New Year,
I love spending the time at the end of each year to do a total review and list my accomplishments. It is always amazing to me just how much can be accomplished in an entire year. I find it better than looking at any particular month or week or even a given day. Life situations often interfere, in the moment. For example, a computer problem, a car problem, a family emergency, a health issue, financial lack, vacation. For a day, week or even a few months, our business activities can be stalled or brought to a halt. But when we look at an entire year, we can be twice as productive in some of the other months and get quite a lot completed.
Here’s to an incredible 2013.
Warmly,
Erica

I really like this exercise, Dr. Erica.
It forces you to be grateful for what your accomplishments and gifts have been, even as you plot your future intentions.
This could be modified to a weekly or even daily exercise as well. Consider spending 10 minutes before bed, compiling such a list. The 3 or 4 things in your day that you are grateful for, and the 2 or 3 things you intend to accomplish tomorrow.

I like your suggestion of using the gratitude and intentions daily or weekly, rather than just waiting until the end of the year to do that. Thanks.

Wow Dr. Erica,
I know you’ve been busy, but wow! You have accomplished so much this past year. You’ve worked so hard to lay down the foundation you need to succeed. I admire your dedication and drive. Ah yes, I remember the 13 days on the computer times! Congratulations for your Nanowrimo victory. A contest? A new novel? Meditation? What’s next? I am amazed! You deserve every wonderful reward that will come your way.
I’ve worked on my goals for the year but I really like your WHAT ARE YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, SUCCESSES AND GRATITUDES FOR 2012 list. I will take you up on this exercise. I especially like the 2013 list to set the tone for this upcoming year. You always provide so much value and I am grateful.
Here is to an incredible 2013!

Hi Raena, My Rainbow friend. I find that list of gratitudes and manifesting intentions extremely powerful. It really does set the tone for the upcoming year. And I can compare what I have accomplished in the previous year to what I really want – and then hone in one being more specific for the upcoming year.
