Love in the Blizzard of Life – Day 9 – TRUST
TRUST is a quality that develops and build over time in any relationship. Without a basic sense of TRUST, we do not feel safe, secure and loved. TRUST in the consistency of our own or our partner’s personality, behaviors and attitudes creates the foundation of a lasting relationship.
At this point you may have the following qualities in place: Your INCENTIVE and INTENTION; Your PRESENT MOMENT awareness and DRIVE; Your ARCHITECT Relationship Designer energy; Your ability to SURRENDER, to have PATIENCE, and to make a lasting COMMITMENT. At this point, your relationship seems to be on solid ground, able to withstand the ups and downs and difficulties of life.
Today’s question is: Do you have a deep and abiding TRUST in your partner, your relationship and yourself, the trust that whatever happens will be for the highest good of all?
- Am I convinced and do I expect that my partner and I are aligned and following similar paths?
- Do I hope, believe and have faith that we are growing closer and more bonded every day?
- Can I rely upon, depend upon and believe that my partner will do what is desired, promised and expected?
Ask yourself NOW: Do I TRUST that my partner and I are each honoring, accepting and appreciating our own self and each other so that our relationship will continue to grow closer and stronger over time?
TRUST involves seeing, expecting and believing that each person is fulfilling their own part of the relationship needs.

Trust is everything. It all starts with trust. Think about how many people have you let you down in your life, that haven’t been trustworthy. It’s a long list. If you can find someone to trust and share that with them, you’re in a very good place.

Steve,
We may begin a business relationship, a friendship or an intimate relationship with a sense of trust, thinking we can rely upon this person to be who he or she appears to be, to do what he or she says they will do. But that trust can easily be destroyed by attitudes, actions and activities that make them appear unreliable, dishonest or just not living up to what either they promised or you expected.

DR. Erica

Hi Dr. Erica,
thank you for your insightful post and great questions.
When I did an Imago workshop we looked at how we choose our partner from a mixture of an image that is a combination of good and bad points of the significant caregivers in our life.
In the workshop both partners learned reflective listening and also being aware of the inner child in the other.
If we can be sensitive with others and ourselves in regards to what maybe activated from our childhood programming then we can see what is happening in our relationship from a different perspective.
Personally I am aware that I am still in the process of building trust, even with my Inner child.
Love and Light

Yorinda,
Building that inner trust can take a lifetime. Yet if we do not trust our own inner knowing, how can we trust anyone else because they do not share everything they are thinking and feeling and doing. And everyone has so much input from within and from others that anyone can be changeable at any time. WE must learn to trust our own self first.
Warmly,
Dr. Erica
