Have you ever looked at other people’s lives and wondered, why isn’t my life easy?  Why don’t I have the life I want and have always dreamed of?  Why do some people have so much and others have so little?  Why do I work so hard at trying to get what I want, yet I often feel as though I am just treading water, barely surviving, or even slipping backwards.

Life is a great equalizer.  We cannot look at anybody else to discover our own path.  No matter how it appears on the surface, we can never really know about the internal workings of the mind and consciousness of anybody else.  All we can know is what we see, the outer manifestations, the material goods, and the images projected.  We do not know the soul’s purpose, the life mission or the overwhelming challenges that anyone else is facing in their own personal journey.

How many of us have actually explored, discovered and are consciously following our own life purpose, our unique personal mission, or our soul’s inner longing?  When we allow ourselves to temporarily disengage from the treadmill of our daily lives, when we give ourselves some quiet time and solitude – alone with our own consciousness – that is when we may be able to connect with our own inner knowing.

But discovering our life path, soul’s journey, purpose here on earth is only the beginning of the process.  That is why we are given an entire lifetime.  There is something we are here to accomplish.  We can continually distract ourselves, focusing on momentary pleasures or life threatening fears, but sooner or later we bump up against our own consciousness.

Are you ready to discover your life’s purpose and live as if your life depended on achieving your life mission?  A good friend, Diane Schwartz, shared a thought with me that will forever change the way I view this lifelong process of self-discovery.  When we are feeling most upset, most down, most angry, most uncomfortable, that is when we have the greatest opportunity for self-actualization, spiritual connection and profound creative expression.  When we are most happy, fulfilled and satisfied, the creative juices may begin to dry up in apathy and boredom.  We are more likely to lose the hunger, the drive and the need for internal discovery.

Necessity is the mother of invention.  The next time you feel discouraged, upset, hurt or angry, step back, allow yourself to reflect, to dialogue within, and to burst with your own unique creative expression.
